Biotechnology is a field of technology that makes use of living things for certain purposes. The deliberate and controlled modification of biological systems (whether living cells or cell components) for the effective production or processing of useful products is known as biotechnology.

The Department of Biotechnology Govt. Girls Nodal PG College, Vidisha was established as self-financing course in the year 2003. It offers three – year Bachelor’s program in biotechnology since 2003 and two–year Master’s program in Biotechnology since 2020 with  thrust areas such as Molecular Biology, Plant Biotechnology, Animal biotechnology, Environmental Biotechnology, Immunology, Applied Biotechnology, Enzyme Technology etc.

The department is equipped with modern & sophisticated instruments and well maintained library. The department has qualified and experienced faculty who helps students not only to achieve good records in the UG and PG course , but also to meet the requirements of the other competitive examination. Department provide training for UG (B.Sc.) and project work for the PG degree (M.Sc). Students visit to various research institutes during their curriculum for their project/ dissertation work.

• To meet the needs of local students by offering different courses in the field of biotechnology.
• To produce high quality students in the field of Biotechnology for the University, state agencies and private sectors.
• To develop scientific attitude and sense of observation in learners.
